Dynamic and future-forward, Drummond Projects comprises a team of visionary designers, artists, architects, and builders who propose elegant, innovative solutions in response to complex design questions. Architecture is the medium by which we express culture across temporalities. Our design approach is multifaceted, rendering thoughtful, resilient spaces for our community as we help realize building endeavors from concept to completion.

We deliver comprehensive design-build services that include concept, permits and construction through to completion. Our growing portfolio of built work ranges from residential multi-family housing, hospitality design, mixed-use development, commercial work-space design, residential and commercial design-builds to public art installations. With a cumulative long-standing and diversified experience in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, our team understands and celebrates the local vernacular histories that shape our urban fabric.

Harnessing creativity, culture and connection, Drummond Projects is a full-service architecture and planning studio based in Washington, DC. Our architectural and engineering services aspire to invigorate the many realms of the built environment which span residential homes, cultural institutions, commercial buildings, hospitality spaces, multi-unit housing, and public artwork.

Jimmie Drummond III

Principal

Studio founder, Jimmie Drummond III is an architectural practitioner, educator and lighting artist. His career represents the essence of what it means to build a legacy of professional excellence. Jimmie holds a Bachelor’s of Fine Art in Interior Design from Howard University and a Dual-Masters Degree in Architecture + Lighting Design from Parsons School of Design. Jimmie is the first African-American to graduate with both Masters degrees in Architecture and Lighting design.

His professional experience includes working as an architect at SHoP Architects, Bernheimer Architecture, and as a lighting designer for FLUX Studio in New York City. He is an Adjunct Professor at New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) where he teaches under-graduate Real-Estate Development, Structural Technology, and Construction Management.

His passion for design is rooted in socially-driven opportunities that make positive change at scale. Jimmie’s portfolio of work includes multi-housing development, commercial hospitality, mixed-use development, and office workspace design. His studio is currently based in Washington, DC.

Johnathan Campbell

  • As Technical Director, Jonathan oversees technical quality review and management and the development of maintenance of firm-wide technical standards. His role includes advising on design and process improvement, quality checking on all construction and contract documents, drawings and specifications, reviewing and approving of all plan checks in its final stages, bid and IFC documentation prior to stamping and signature. With fastidious attention to detail, Jonathan performs with accuracy and precision when handling processes and procedures.

    Jonathan is a Registered Architect in Maryland, Washington D.C., and Virginia with over 15 years of practice in commercial, government, higher education, institutional and healthcare design. Jonathan has completed hundreds of projects throughout the DMC. He is a member of the DC National Organization of Minority Architects and a certified member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. Johnathan holds a Master's Degree in Architecture from Morgan State University and is a former adjunct professor at the University of the District of Columbia Community College and University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

Christopher Sledge

  • Chris Sledge joined Drummond Projects in 2020 as the firm's Creative Director. His multi-disciplinary approach has allowed him the opportunity to collaborate with world renowned architects, interior designers, and industrial designers.

    His professional experience includes 12 years working with Italian furniture manufacturers to increase their market share in the US through business development, activations, and education.

    While grounded in fine art and luxury interiors, his career has been purposefully diverse. He has always sought work that would add to his repertoire in this ever-evolving industry.

Lolade Frankel

  • Lolade Frankel is a Project Director at Drummond Projects. She is passionate about design equity and is dedicated to making space for and elevating voices within architecture that are often underrepresented and overlooked. Lolade envisions architecture as rooted in place, community, and joy, which are made possible through the lens of approachability.

    Lolade graduated from Tulane University in Louisiana with a Bachelor’s and Master of Architecture. Her professional experience includes working with Standard and John Friedman Alice Kimm in Los Angeles for three years on all phases of projects ranging from retail to educational work. Most recently, she spent two years working on affordable housing, adaptive re-use and multi-unit residential projects in her hometown of Philadelphia.

  • Matias is an Architectural Designer at Drummond Projects. His work merges form and function, striving to create spaces that uplift and enrich the lives of those who encounter him. His designs showcase a meticulous attention to detail and an innate ability to forge connections between people and their surroundings.

    Prior to joining the Drummond Projects team, Matias worked at Design Collective and EastWing Architects, where he worked on multifamily residential projects.

    Matias harbors a passion for graphic design and a flair for integrating playful elements into his creations. This distinctive approach adds a touch of delight and encourages interaction, fostering unforgettable experiences within the constructed environment.

Matias Osei

  • Mirna Obeid is a Design Intern at Drummond Projects while simultaneously undergoing her studies at the University of Miami, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Architecture degree with a minor in Urban Design. With a particular interest for functional and visually impressive spaces, Mirna continues to expand her knowledge and skill set through real-world projects to make this duality possible.

    Her foray into the discipline is comprehensive as she delves into the foundations of architectural principles, design theory, and sustainable practices. Whether conceptualizing innovative designs or collaborating with others, Mirna lends a fresh perspective and a meticulous eye for detail. She is dedicated to creating spaces that not only inspire, but also enhance the lives of the people who inhabit them.

Mirna Obeid

  • Alexander Loew is a Design Intern at Drummond Projects enrolled in the Bachelor of Architecture program at Drexel University's Westphal College of Media and Arts & Design. His keen understanding of the elegance and efficiency that can be achieved through simplicity is driven by his affinity for minimalism and amplified by his adeptness in conceptual design. 

    With an overarching design objective to imbue his work with modern sustainability tactics, and a heightened interest in urban design, Alex aims to create strategic blueprints for parks and neighborhoods. Before joining the team at Drummond Projects, he worked at TOBE Design Group.

Alexander Loew

  • Ian brings a wealth of professional experience that spans across multi-family housing, retail, hospitality, and workspace design.

    A graduate of The Catholic University of America, Ian has dedicated himself to nurturing the next generation of architects through his leadership in youth programs at the Washington Architectural Foundation. He has also played pivotal roles, such as Chair of the AIA DC Emerging Architects Committee and secretary on the DC NOMA executive board, where he channels his energy into initiatives like advancing Project Pipeline within the District.

    Outside his professional pursuits, Ian finds solace and camaraderie on the rugby field, proudly representing The Washington Irish. Looking ahead, Ian aspires to leverage his architectural and engineering expertise to influence policy and elevate standards of living, contributing to a more sustainable future for the users of the constructed environment.

Ian Walker

Jamie Solomon

  • Jamie is an Architectural Designer Intern at Drummond Projects who recently graduated from Morgan State University. Prior to joining the team, she worked at Sulton Campbell Britt. It was on a trip to Ghana that deepened her admiration for and appreciation of how culture and history can inspire design.

    Her passion for architecture is driven by her unwavering commitment to creativity, with architecture serving as her canvas to explore a wide range of mediums. Her ultimate aspiration is to design spaces that not only meet essential needs but also elevate communities with human-centered design.

Lawan Alade-Fa

  • Lawan Alade-Fa is a BIM Modeler at Drummond Projects. His work "brings designs to life" and he's passionate about addressing spatial and aesthetic challenges through 3D modeling and visualization. He employs a human-centered methodology and comprehends the precision required to actualize practical and secure designs.

    Lawan studied civil-architectural engineering at Northwestern and Harvard Universities. Prior to joining the Drummond Projects team, he worked at Perkins+Will and Cloud Kitchens Chicago where he supported a number of design projects and standardized design operations and program management, respectively.

Anton Shoetan

  • Anton leads finance m accounting and tax functions for Drummond Projects. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant with more than 10 years of experiences. Prior to joining the team, he led and managed teams at KPMG and PwC in deal advisory services and financial statement audits, respectively.

    Anton is a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA). He received his MBA from Philadelphia University and his BA from Chowan University where he was a member of the men’s varsity basketball team.
