COMMUNITY CHANGE

Community Change is a national organization empowering low-income communities, particularly people of color, to build a multiracial democracy and a just economy. Their headquarters reside in a striking 1920 Italian Renaissance Revival building, originally designed by Frederick B. Pyle as an automobile showroom. At the crossroads of the residential 16th Street corridor and the vibrant U Street, it remains a testament to early 20th-century architectural elegance highlighting round-arched openings, ornamental plaster detailing, and a classical cornice.

As the organization evolves, our design accommodates that growth with a focus on flexibility, collaboration, and innovation by transforming the office into a dynamic hub for connection and empowerment. A spectrum of workspaces—from open collaboration spaces, hospitality-driven zones to private, acoustically-protected rooms—ensures adaptability for diverse working styles. This reimagined environment amplifies Community Change’s mission, fostering creativity and resilience, while remaining rooted in the organization’s legacy of building power from the ground up.
